ShadeTree Canopies releases pilot program with Ace Hardware
ShadeTree Canopies’ retractable awnings is excited to announce their VIP (Vendor Installed Program) partnership with Ace Hardware. Late this summer, ShadeTree’s overhead retractable awnings and shade canopies were test marketed through Ace retail stores and the results were highly favorable for both parties. News of this pilot program was recently announced through a press release providing details of the program.
This VIP program allows Ace to leverage their reputation of superior service in conjunction with ShadeTree’s turnkey, sales and installation program. With a national network of local sales representatives and installers, ShadeTree can provide personal service including home visits, measuring and design service, as well as installation. Additionally, the Ace stores provide a local “showroom” for prospects to see the product before making a purchase decision.
“ShadeTree was an important participant in our program. We’ve been pleased with the interest and the addition to our outdoor space,” said Amy Pallerito, LBM manager at Ace Hardware Corp. “The retractable awnings and shade canopies create a nice themed look in the store and create a beautiful ‘outdoor room’ for cross merchandising grills and patio furniture and accessories.”
Ace Hardware isn’t alone in sharing their excitement for the opportunity. Dwayne Williams, President of ShadeTree, announced encouraging results from their pilot program at Ace stores in Columbus, OH and LaGrange, IL in late summer. “We were thrilled to be part of the vendor program with Ace Hardware as it is showing much encouragement with late season sales within the last couple months,” said Williams.
With this type of activity, life at ShadeTree Canopies retractable awnings has been quite interesting and will continue to do so with partners such as Ace Hardware.

ShadeTree Canopies on the Today Show
Recently the Today show constructed the ultimate bachelor pad and spared no expense on this frill-heavy, 5700 square foot apartment overlooking Manhattan. Along with $150,000 speakers exists a Louis Vuitton decorated master bathroom, as well as a super sharp ShadeTree Canopies awning system.
On the patio of the fab penthouse rests a top of the line pergola awning, that provides shade for the lucky visitors of the bachelor pad. The ShadeTree awning gives shade to those who are lucky enough to enjoy what could possibly be the private residential view of Manhattan.

Nationally syndicated PBS program to showcase ShadeTree Canopies
National interest in the ShadeTree Canopies product continues to be on a tear, as PBS’ “For Your Home” performs a patio makeover for a skin cancer survivor.
Part 1: Some ShadeTree options
In clip one, the foundation for the patio makeover is laid as the mother-daughter host team of Vicki Payne and Sloan Rutter brainstorm creative ideas that will breathe life into an old and tired patio. Consider yourself forewarned, as ShadeTree Canopies President, Dwayne Williams, makes his on screen debut in this clip that describes a few different materials for the awnings.
Part 2: Getting Creative
In the second clip, Vicki provides a few interesting pruning tips that every green thumb should know, while Sloan gets wet and wild while installing a water pump for a Tuscan fountain. The ladies also create their own trellis to hide some ugly power boxes. Unfortunately, there is not much about ShadeTree Canopies and awnings in this clip.
Part 3: Custom made patio furniture covers
In clip three, Vicki puts on a sewing clinic while making some custom made patio furniture covers. That is one of the finest two inch hems we’ve ever seen.
The Finished Product
In clip 4, it’s party time. Vicki provides tips on how to grow an authentic Italian garden and soon thereafter bottled grapes are put to the test. Baker’s racks finally get their due, while Chef Randy is ready to cook up a few hearty meals underneath the ShadeTree Canopy and awnings as well.

ShadeTree Pergolas are hot hot hot
What is the newest trend in staying cool this season? Pergolas.
The pergola boom is in full force, and is well documented in many magazines and periodicals across the country. In keeping up with the trend, Handy Magazine documented the ShadeTree Pergola in a beautiful three page spread. To view the Handy Magazine article click here
The pergola structure itself has been a hot commodity in the recent home improvement arena, but an even newer trend has evolved. The ShadeTree Canopies awning system has taken the pergola to the next level, by manufacturing canopies for the pergola system.

The Roberts’ Residence
Just outside Mansfield, Ohio, rests a quiet and rural subdivision that exudes the peaceful excitement that summer generally provides. The home of Dave and Debbie Roberts, located just west of Mansfield, is equipped with a beautiful deck, a nicely landscaped backyard, and an entertaining view of the community pool.
All would seem to be picture perfect for the Roberts’, but in recent years the summer months unfortunately meant they have to abandon their deck in the afternoons and early evenings due to the sun. The intense and unbearable heat that penetrates their westward facing deck makes enjoying gatherings nearly impossible.
This spring, Dave and Debbie decided that enough was enough and took to the internet in search of a solution.
In March of 2007, Dave located ShadeTree Retractable Canopies through an internet search, ordered a catalog, and later that month they attended an Open House at the ShadeTree Canopies headquarters in Columbus, Ohio. It was in the ShadeTree Canopies showroom that Dave and Debbie found their solution to their summertime blues. The couple that loves to entertain family and friends would finally have their deck back for family gatherings and cookouts.
Dave and Debbie have a simple but aesthetically pleasing black and white décor theme that breathes life into their backyard. They have installed a vinyl ShadeTree Canopies Greenbriar system, and selected the black and white stripe Sunbrella fabric to provide their deck and backyard area with a mellifluously homogenous feel.
“We really like the idea of the canopy being retractable, especially when we might be out shopping 45 minutes away,” remarked Mr. Roberts. “If we would be gone and a storm would come into the area, we don’t have to worry about damage to our canopies,” Roberts said.
“We love to entertain family and friends, and anytime after 11:00 A.M. our deck was useless (in the summer),” stated Mrs. Roberts.
Mrs. Roberts also had very high praise for ShadeTree Canopies Sales Representative Mark Straub. “Mark’s service was about responsibility. He cares, he’s patient, and always with a smile. You can see his smile on the phone,” finished Mrs. Roberts.
With their ShadeTree Canopies Retractable shade system in place, we can only hope that all days will be sunny for the Dave and Debbie Roberts family and friends.

ShadeTree awning and canopy concepts
What’s new?
Backyard shade … wherever you need it.
ShadeTree Canopies and awnings have developed an innovative way to get important sun protection, right in your own back yard.
We all need some exposure to sunlight. It’s our primary source of vitamin D, which helps us absorb the calcium we need to have strong healthy bones. But too much of a good thing is bad, and it’s ever so easy to get too much sunlight. The result often shows up as skin cancer, premature aging and serious eye problems.
During the summer, television, newspapers and the internet are brimming with information on how to protect ourselves and our children by using sunscreens. Putting sunscreen on 20 to 30 minutes in advance of the sun exposure, and repeating the application as needed, along with wearing hats and protective clothing are a few of the most effective ways in protecting against the sun.
Around home, however, it’s also important to have a shady area where kids can play, or at least take a periodic break, and where adults can relax away from the sun’s heat and damaging UV rays. Shade havens like these are even more important for families who have back yard swimming pools.
An all-new way to provide this kind of shade relief virtually anywhere in a lawn is currently showing up this year at Home & Garden Shows around the country. Called Alpine ShadeMakers it’s a line of retractable canopies built into a rugged and attractive wood frame. Because it’s mounted on only two sturdy wood posts, it has a small footprint, yet it provides a generous shaded area, up to 21’ by 20’. Smaller versions are also available for tight areas, such as along a fence or wall, or tucked in beside a swimming pool.
The canopies ride in overhead tracks and can be extended or retracted in only seconds. When not in use, the retracted canopies enable sunlight to get into the area, so the owner can keep a healthy stand of grass growing in the shaded retreat. A wide variety of decorator, outdoor fabrics is available to make these shade structures an attractive addition to any back yard.
The makers offer a handy installation service, or do-it-yourselfers may prefer to do the job themselves, since the canopies come pre-assembled and a rugged, easy-to-install hardware kit is supplied to link the parts of wood structures
Each module has a built-in “wind-release” mechanism which lets the canopies float freely in their tracks in the event of a windstorm, thereby minimizing the chance of wind damage. And when cold weather arrives, the canopies can be taken down in only minutes and rolled up for compact winter storage.

ShadeTree Systems a hole in one for golf courses
Every spring ShadeTree Canopies finds a new niche market, and this year is no different.
With steamy summer temperatures and laid back atmosphere that a golf course effortlessly provides, it seems only natural that ShadeTree Canopies would be a perfect fit for golf course clubhouses. Many midwestern golf courses have caught on as well, with both public and private courses providing a hot market for the cool ShadeTree Canopy and Awnings system.
Attached are a handful of systems that we have manufactured and installed, and we think they look like perfect respite from the sun on the 19th hole.
